Mentia wins Today’s Caregiver Magazine’s 2020 Caregiver Friendly® Award
Today’s Caregiver, the USA’s first national magazine for all family and professional caregivers, and caregiver.com announced the 2020 Caregiver Friendly® Award recipients. The Caregiver Friendly® Awards are designed to celebrate products, services, books and media created with the needs of caregivers in mind.
Mentia is recognized for its signature product, DevaWorld™, a videogame that builds communication between people living with dementia and their caregivers.
“We’re serious about co-design, and the Award celebrates this.” says Mandy Salomon PhD, CEO of Mentia. “By putting our users at the centre of the design we enable individuals living with dementia and their supporters to work together, breaking down the myth that people with dementia are passive receivers of care. We’ve achieved results that show that cooperation and understanding improves not only during a DevaWorld session but beyond, leading to better outcomes for the care partnership and for our health system too.”
“The average caregiver is responsible for over $40,000 in health related expenditures each year, in either personal or directed funds” Says Gary Barg, Today’s Caregiver magazine’s Editor-in- Chief, “This award is designed to help family caregivers recognize and reward those organizations who will care for them in as committed a manner as they care for their loved ones.”
